what urges us to work efficiently?

I want to know what is the force which is behind us to make us more focused.

In my thought process ,I got some Ideas.

set a Goal , and work towards that.

some times you might work focused.but not everytime.

An unexpected thing , knocks u off from your track.

Your wavering mind pulls you off from the track for some sort of short term pleasure.

your subordinate who needs you help might deviate you from your focus.

From my understanding , we should have some inner urge to push ourself to the track. always begin with time and expection for unexpected things happenings.

Even some times long lunch in a business day would also drag us from focus. I am still in the thought process, could not conclude anything.
